Andra Liemandt, Mandy Prater, Jennifer Zavaleta, Jenny Mason and Larissa Ness. They not be recognizable names to many music fans but these group of ladies of The Mrs. are starting to make waves not just for their upbeat music, but for their passion for women’s empowerment.
It was almost a month ago that I came across a YouTube video of The Mrs’s “Enough” song. With powerful lyrics of self-esteem and courage, “Enough” is by far the most beautiful anthem that shows the world women are extraordinary in their own awesome way, no matter what life or society may expect of them.
All I can say is, these women are amazing ambassadors for women and girls all over. To create music that is both uplifting and spreads an awesome message of empowering women is a rare sight these days — especially when the music world and society itself places way, way too many unreal expectations for women musicians to live up to a “sex appeal” standard. In other words, women musicians are made to feel if they’re not young or sexy enough they’re guaranteed to fail. But as The Mrs. is proving, it doesn’t matter what you look like or how old you are: it’s never ever too late to pursue and live out your wildest dreams. This is why The Mrs. has become my favorite music band. I only hope in 20 years the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be calling The Mrs.’s names for induction.
